Our firm comprises auditors who are individually approved External Examiners registered with the Law Society Northern Territory (LSNT). We provide independent trust account audits to help NT law practices comply with the Legal Profession Act 2006 (NT) and the Legal Profession Regulations 2007.
Law practices that have received or held trust money during the financial year (excluding transit money) are required to appoint an External Examiner to examine their trust records. The appointment must be made in accordance with the guidelines provided by the LSNT.
The trust accounting year in the Northern Territory runs from 1 April to 31 March. During this period, we examine trust records to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Following the examination, we are required to lodge the External Examiner's Report with the LSNT.
For comprehensive information about managing trust accounts, including opening and operating procedures, statutory deposit accounts, and compliance requirements, visit the LSNT's Trust Accounts page.
