SA / Solicitor's Trust Account

Trust Account Auditing Services for South Australian Law Practices

Our firm comprises auditors who are individually approved External Examiners registered with the Law Society of South Australia (LSSA). We provide independent trust account audits to help SA law practices comply with the Legal Practitioners Act 1981 (SA) and the Legal Practitioners Regulations 2014.

Appointment of an External Examiner

Law practices that have received or held trust money during the financial year (excluding transit money) are required to appoint an External Examiner to examine their trust records. The appointment must be made in accordance with the guidelines provided by the LSSA.

Designated persons who can be appointed as an external examiner are listed here. You'll find our auditor, Shakeel Khan, proudly listed among them.

Trust Examination Period

The trust accounting year in South Australia runs from 1 July to 30 June. During this period, we examine trust records to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Lodgement of the Examiner's Report

Following the examination, we are required to lodge the External Examiner's Report with the LSSA. This must be completed by 31 October each year.
